ONLINE COURSES

Why take an online class?

You can participate according to your own schedule, including job and family responsibilities.

Online classes are more easily accessible than on-site classes that require you to leave the house at what may be an inconvenient time.

Finding a suitable on-site class may not be easy, especially if you live in a small town.

Online courses provide a unique mix of intimacy and anonymity.

Online courses are usually much less expensive than on-site classes for the same material covered.

Students who live thousands of miles apart, of all ages and stages of life, can participate and learn together.

How do the Christian PEN courses work?

The instructor sends out an assignment to all the class members once a week, usually on Monday. Students read the assignments at their leisure.

Most courses have optional homework assignments. If you're too busy, you are under no obligation to do them. However, you will probably find that you get more out of the class if you do the homework. You may post your assignments to the class, to get feedback from fellow students, or directly to the instructor, whichever is your preference.

Students who do at least some of the optional assignments for each lesson receive a personalized, printed Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.

Are the Christian PEN courses worth the cost?

Compare the cost of our courses to others. Here is a sampling:
10-week course with Writers on the Net: $270
10-week course with Gotham Writers' Workshop: $395
10-week course with The Nature of Writing: $600

On-site offerings at colleges and continuation schools can range from $139 to $2,000 for a 10-week course.

Here are responses from some of the students who took TCP's first online courses. (For more testimonials, click on the links to student responses for each individual course.)

Absolutely worth the cost of tuition! I like the fact that I could save everything for later.

I go through the lessons frequently so I can "internalize" everything I've learned. And the certificate of completion is beautiful! I show it off to everyone who comes over and have also scanned it for my boss to see. The artwork is wonderful! I look at it and sigh in happiness. Thanks so much.
